Lemon Oil



Lemon is a citrus evergreen tree whose native home is Asia. It's a hybrid of the sour orange and citron. It grows to 6m and has highly perfumed pink and white flowers. The name is derived from Persian ‘limun’ or the Arabic ‘laimun’.
The lemon oil is a greenish-yellowish color and its water with fresh sharp smell. Its shelf life is 8-10 months. It's extracted by cold compression from the fresh fruit peel.

Uses
  1. On the body
v  It has a calming effect and so it helps to alleviate anxiety, nervous tension and mental fatigue. Inhaling the lemon oil helps in concentration and to refresh the mind allowing positive emotions and filtering out the negative thus promoting emotional balance.
v  It ensures good sleep so it helps to treat insomnia. It improves quality of sleep.
v  Since it has a high vitamin content it boosts the immune system. It raises the production of white blood cells thus enabling the body to effectively fight off disease.
v  It helps to eliminate gases from the body so it's good for various ailments such as being bloated, cramps and upset stomach.
v  Rubbing several drops of lemon oil on varicose vein helps to relieve pressure and improves circulation.
v  When inhaled it promotes energy, healing and health.
v  By adding a drop of water and drinking the water regulates blood pressure.
v  It can be mixed with coconut oil and applied to the lips to cure cold sores.
v  Treat gingivitis and bleeding gums by dropping lemon oil on the gums.
v  Mix 4-6 drops of lemon oil with massage oil and apply on cellulite to promote circulation.
v  Add lemon oil to breakfast to wake up our mind.
v  You can treat heartburn by adding the oil into a semi-full glass. It improves breathing and improves circulation.
v  It merges with the fatty cells thus burning them out of the system. We can say it helps to lose weight.
v  It helps to detoxify the body.
  1. On the hair
v  It's a good treatment for dry scalp, hair lice and dandruff. Put it in your conditioner or last rinse water or a few drops on the comb or put a few drops on the fingertips and lightly massage into the scalp.
  1. On the skin
v  It can help remove dead skins. Mix a drop with your cleaner to enhance a clearer skin tone.
v  You can use the oil as a face mask by mixing the oil with olive oil. The olive oil moisturizes and lemon lightens the skin.
v  It eases eczema and itchiness of the skin caused by insect bites. Add a few drops of lemon oil to your bath.
v  It can also be used for age spots. Put 2-3 drop of oil mixed with a carrier oil or lotion of your choice and apply to the spots or apply to the acne spots or oily skin.

It blends well with lavender, rosemary and jasmine.

Precautions
Avoid contact with the direct sunlight for at least 12 hrs after use.
