Rosehip Oil



It's also known as rose haw and it’s the seeds produced by the rose plant. It's red to orange but in some species it's dark purple to black.

It's compressed from the seed pods left after the petals of the rose fall off. Its yellow colored.

Uses
Rosehip oil is mainly used for cosmetic purposes. It's used in skin rejuvenation and hair products because of its valuable qualities.
  1. On the hair
v  It has rejuvenating properties to the scalp thus making the hair and scalp healthy
v  It conditions dry and damaged hair. Just slightly heat the oil and then massage it into the scalp for 10 minutes. Then apply to the rest of the hair and steam for 20 minutes. This can be done by applying a hot towel on the hair the after an hour wash the hair.
v  It moisturizes the hair in a natural way. Just add the oil to your moisturizer and apply when needed.
v  It promotes hair growth.
v  It makes the hair healthier and stronger. Just combine it to your favorite conditioner or shampoo.
  1. On the skin
v  It helps to reduce signs of ageing especially the crows feet which are the fine lines that appear around the eyes. It also helps with the lines around the mouth and lips. This is due to the fact that it contains oleic acid which helps to create supple and moist, thus making the skin elastic.
v  It enables the skin to hold in moisture thus reducing dryness. A few drops can be added to water and used as a skin hydrating tool by putting the water in a spritzer and spraying it on the face.
v  It treats hyper-pigmented skin to have an even tone and also improve the texture of the skin.
v  It can be added to creams, lotions and sunscreen to improve their effectiveness.
v  It brings a shine to the face thus making the face glow. It can be applied neat before going to bed for a glowing face in the morning. Dab the affected areas with a few drops of oil on a piece of cotton. Do this a few times a day.
v  It has beta-carotene which is a big source of vitamin A, which makes it an antioxidant, thus healing the skin that has been damaged by the sun.
v  It also combats the dying effects of the sun, climate and environment. It contains linoleic acid which preserves the cell’s natural barrier to the elements.
v  It heals the skin and regenerates skin tissue thus preventing the formation of scar tissue. So it's useful in treating scars, scarring by eczema, acne scarring, burns and stretch marks.
v  It s a good treatment for dry skin because it's readily absorbed by the skin thus not greasy or oily.
v  It can be used by children to remove scars caused by chicken pox.
v  Since it's readily absorbed by the skin it helps to remove toxins from the skin due to its anti-oxidating properties.

Precautions
It doesn’t have any toxic or irritating effects and can be applied to the skin neat.
